Control Guide
KNOCK KNOCK is remote control software that helps users and support specialists share a screen and solve computer problems through a one-time support code and user approval.
What is the difference between remote control and remote support?
Remote control means viewing and operating a computer from another location with keyboard and mouse input. KNOCK KNOCK uses this capability as part of a remote support process for solving computer problems.
Available for Windows and macOS
The person receiving help and the support specialist each use the app for their operating system. KNOCK KNOCK currently provides Windows and macOS apps, available through the operating-system selector on the home page.
How to start PC remote control
- The person receiving help opens the remote help app.
- Enter the one-time support code provided by the specialist.
- Review the specialist information shown on screen and approve the connection.
- Work together on the connected screen to solve the problem.
- End the connection from the remote help app when support is complete.
No need to enter a network address
KNOCK KNOCK connects with a support code instead of requiring users to enter an IP address or change router settings. Even users who are less familiar with computers can begin by entering the code they receive.
Share the screen and input only while needed
After the user approves the connection, the specialist can view the screen and assist with permitted keyboard and mouse input. Keep sensitive documents and passwords out of view during the session.
When PC remote control can help
- Reviewing a computer error that is difficult to explain in words
- Guiding someone through software installation or settings
- Helping family members or customers use Windows or macOS remotely
- Providing step-by-step help while viewing the user’s screen
Connection data is encrypted between devices
Screen, input, chat, clipboard, and file-transfer data is end-to-end encrypted between devices. Compare the security verification number shown on both devices for an additional identity check.
Disconnect at any time
The person receiving help can end the connection directly from the remote help app. If support is complete or unexpected activity appears, disconnect immediately and check with the specialist.
Before starting PC remote control
- Confirm that the support code came from a trusted specialist.
- Check the specialist information on the approval screen.
- Disconnect before banking or entering passwords.
- Before granting an operating-system permission, confirm that it is needed for screen sharing or remote input.
